Gift Grade Quality
Pine or Matsutake are also known as The Holy Grail of wild mushrooms.
The Matsutake mushroom is a form of fungi that traditionally signals the onset of autumn. For many Japanese, it is a delicacy that is treasured for its fruity fragrance and spicy aroma.

It is hard to forage for Matsutake due to several requirements. Only a small number of forests have a mycorrhizal relationship with these fungi to produce them. In addition to the strict mushroom growing environment, pickers may be risking their lives in the forest with dangerous wild animals and competitive local pickers.
All the action that takes place to receive a gift-grade Matsutake mushroom comes with a price. It is well worth it!

These mushrooms are graded depending on how intact they are from the time of fruiting

Our high-grade Matsutake may be used as a traditional gift and it is edible in small quantities raw.

Our best-tasting experience in making them includes:

Grilled on charcoal. Steamed in Dashi. Simply cooked with rice!
