Our favorite prep method:
- 2-3 dried Birch polypore slices (about 2-3 inches each)
- 3 cups of water
Instructions:
- Add the Birch polypore slices to a medium-sized pot.
- Pour 3 cups of water over the Birch polypore slices, and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and let the tea simmer for about 20-30 minutes. You can cover the pot if you wish.
- After 20-30 minutes, turn off the heat and let the tea cool for a few minutes.
- Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to remove any mushroom pieces.
- Pour the tea into a cup, and serve hot.
You can also add a squeeze of lemon or honey to the tea for extra flavor. Birch polypore tea has a slightly bitter taste, so you may want to adjust the amount of mushroom slices to suit your taste preferences. Additionally, you can reuse the Birch polypore slices to brew a second or third batch of tea, as they contain beneficial compounds that may still be present after the first brew
